Mixed Media Mayhem retreat round-up!

Well, what a weekend! I have just returned from teaching at the Mixed Media Mayhem retreat in Lancaster UK, organised by the lovely Sharon at Rowan Tree Crafts, and teaching alongside my fellow DecoArt DT member Mark Gould aka speshink.  Mark and I have totally different art styles and teaching styles so everyone who came along had two very different classes!

We were lucky enough to be sponsored by DecoArt who provided all of our paints and mediums, and also 7gypsies who provided Mark with some gorgeous papers for his workshop.

I designed a folio art journal with removable signatures as a rather open-ended project as I was hoping that although we were unlikely to finish it all on the day, people who came along might go home and work on it a bit more. I think that removed some of the time pressure and also allowed us to experiment with various different painting techniques on the day.

I also snuck in a few of my stamps for Stampotique ;-)

Bunny Boy by me! for Stampotique

Here you can see how the signatures were tied inside the folio:

And here's how it fastens at the front:

Of course my classes involve colour, colour, and a bit more colour!

We used a variety of stamps including some by Andy Skinner, and stencils by Tando

It was a very busy, colourful, painty couple of days but we had a blast, and as always I was blown away by everyone's creativity. Thanks to everyone to came along and made it such a fun weekend.

We had a LOT of help over the two days from Sharon's husband Mark, and Annie and Emma from the shop so big thanks to all of them x

  6. Kate, it was THE most wonderful weekend! As you say, two very different styles but both classes were so enjoyable, it was such fun to use lots of colour one day and go grungy the next - a perfect combination! You are a wonderful tutor, thank you so much! Anne xx
