Journaling the new year.

Thinking backwards and thinking forwards ... a page for the year just gone, and a page ready for the year ahead.
Back to my roots a bit with these pages, a good ol' bit of collage. I used some fabulous kits by Crowabout Studio B at Mischief Circus ... Be Free and Peaceful Dwellings. I just LOVE Nancy's images!

I decided to use up some backgrounds that have been kicking around on my desk for a while. When teaching classes I often create on loose leaf card which rarely gets finished so I end up with lots of partly done backgrounds. I added more layers to tie in the colours of the images with the colours I had on my background and I added a lot of scribbling with the Dina Wakley Media Scribble Sticks.

I added these loose pages to my large Strathmore journal which I use as a kind of journal scrapbook, and then let the journaling spill out onto the page a bit.

And this final bit of stamping is from a fab set I managed to bag myself when I visited Art Chick Studio in Holland. I couldn't resist adding a bit more scribble.
(My husband looked at this page, pointed to this bit and said 'Did YOU do that?!'
Ha ha ha ha :-) Oh yes I did.

Faux Watercolour!

It's that time again! Yes, another *free* tutorial video by me, for Gel press. This time I created a really simple faux watercolour technique using acrylic paints.

Part 2 follows in a few days.

And don't forget, if you want to see any of my previous Gel press videos they are all together on one page *here* (tab at top of page.

Byeee for now....

Happy new year!

Happy new year! I am just about beginning to crawl out of my post-Christmas slump and get going again ready for 2018. Every year, over the Christmas period I seem to sink into hibernation mode and it's very hard to get out of, but yesterday I was teaching a Gel Press class at Art from the Heart which was a great motivator to get up and going again.

We used lots of layers of colour, and different stencils to build up funky, bright, colourful backgrounds. The Gel Press is a great and easy way to build up multi-layered backgrounds :-)

Here's another background I prepped for the class. It's not finished as an art journal page yet .... but I will finish it one day!

And during the class I created these backgrounds as samples. Again unfinished, but it gives me something to do!

And in other news ... guess where I'm going in January? Yay! I'll her heading to Phoenix, Arizona, to demo on the Gel Press stand - booth 1924. Hopefully I will see some of you there. Let's just say I'm verrrrrrryyyyy excited about this :-)))
